Origin: endemic to the Philippines, found from Luzon to Mindanao, common in lowland primary forests along river banks and on hills, low altitude primary forest

  • it is closely related to the Dao
  • From Philippine Native Trees: “The scientific name is Dracontomelon edule. Edule meaning ‘eatable’ or ‘enjoyable’ in Latin etymology.”
