  • According to Trees of Tropical Asia, the name Ziziphus came from the classic name for the jujube fruit.
  • According to Pinoy Trees, Jesus Christ was crowned with thorns from the Ziziphus jujube.
  • The town of Mabalacat, Pampanga was named after this tree.
